Challenge
To manage communications across millions of users and a diverse app portfolio, justDice needed an easy-to-use and reliable solution — one that would help them achieve key goals:
- Improve early-stage retention
- Drive engagement (which directly fuels monetization)
- Scale efficiently across multiple apps
Unsure where to start, the team turned to Pushwoosh to launch their first automated campaigns and scale communication across different apps and multiple channels.
Solution: Lifecycle messaging at scale with Pushwoosh
#1. Preventing churn in the first minutes
With multiple apps to maintain and new ones launching, the biggest challenge was deciding where to start. justDice focused on what would deliver the quickest and most visible impact: reducing early churn.
The team launched its first automated onboarding campaign with Pushwoosh’s Customer Journey Builder — a visual, marketer-friendly drag-and-drop tool that enabled fast implementation without relying on developers.
I’m a marketer, I’m not a tech person, so doing very tech-savvy things would be complicated for me. But with Pushwoosh Customer Journey Builder, it’s pretty simple. I’m able to set up customer journeys without having to ask the tech team for help.
In this flow, users who don’t complete onboarding within the first few minutes are identified as “at-risk” and receive a contextual push notification prompting them to finish setup and claim a welcome bonus.

If you want to prevent churn at an early stage, you really need to act fast: within the first one to five minutes after the install.
We saw a significant reduction in churn rate very early in the user journey. That was really amazing to see, because I didn’t expect the results to be that great from such a “small” thing.
The campaign achieved an impressive 10.7% conversion rate and resulted in a 26% reduction in churn among at-risk users, showing that even one targeted campaign is enough to start seeing real impact with Pushwoosh.
#2. Driving engagement beyond onboarding
After onboarding, justDice keeps users coming back with scheduled or triggered push campaigns — a key to boosting retention and monetization in the rewarded gaming model.
One example is a daily reminder campaign tied to activity milestones, which achieved an average CTR of 4.76%, peaking at 7.42%

#3. Converting behavior into monetization
To turn engagement into revenue, justDice uses behavior-based segmentation in Pushwoosh to trigger timely, relevant push messages based on users’ in-app activity.
For example, this campaign targets users based on two different user actions as entry points. Triggered users receive a contextual push message encouraging them to return to the app and take advantage of a limited-time offer.

Result: In comparison, the push sent after user action A significantly outperforms the other, achieving a 14.14% CTR and driving conversions. The overall campaign leads to an increase in monetized user rate.
#4. Data-backed messaging with A/B testing
To ensure every campaign delivers measurable value, justDice uses an A/B testing approach. Before scaling any new campaign, the team tests its impact on real user behavior.
When launching a new journey, they segment users into test and control groups — sending a push campaign only to the test group, while holding back communication for the control group.

With the help of tag-based performance tracking in Pushwoosh, the team compares key engagement metrics across groups and calculates whether the test campaign showed better engagement metrics and generated incremental revenue. If so, the campaign is considered successful and ready to scale.
#5. Expanding across channels
With Pushwoosh’s omnichannel messaging features, justDice is building a comprehensive lifecycle strategy — starting with push notifications and expanding into in-apps and email, all managed within one platform.
Push notifications → Best for immediate actions and time-sensitive messages, highly relevant for the fast-moving gaming space.
In-app messaging → To engage active users and highlight new features, promos, or bonuses directly in the app.
Email → For long-term retention and reactivation of a large dormant user base.
When there’s this holistic approach to LiveOps communications, you can have everything on one platform, and you are already familiar with Pushwoosh’s Customer Journey Builder; it’s just a matter of choosing the right channel. That’s really cool.
#6. Scaling campaigns across multiple projects in seconds
To scale its top-performing journeys across the 20+ apps they manage, justDice clones campaigns into other projects.
This allows the team to replicate entire journeys — including structure, triggers, and content — without spending hours rebuilding them manually.
#7. Running segmented surveys for actionable insights
In addition to retention and engagement campaigns, justDice runs surveys to collect valuable insights into users’ backgrounds and behaviors, helping shape product and marketing strategies.
Example: a survey campaign targeted users from a specific country who completed a desired action and sent a push message inviting them to share feedback on their user experience in exchange for a reward.

With Pushwoosh, campaigns can be segmented by behavior, location, or other attributes, and adapted to users’ language preferences for better relevance and higher response rates.
Results
justDice saw the impact of lifecycle messaging in just two to three weeks. With Pushwoosh, the team launched, tested, and scaled communication flows that drove real business outcomes:
- 26% churn reduction with an early-stage retention campaign triggered minutes after install.
- Significant boost in engagement (with up to 10.7% push conversion rate), leading to increased monetized user rate and revenue.
- Two work hours per campaign were saved by automatically cloning and scaling journeys across multiple projects. The risk of error was also minimized.
