Transactional SMS notification service

When the message has to arrive

SMS reaches a customer on the number they carry everywhere, with no app and no push subscription. Run it in the same Customer Journey as push, email and in-app.

A complete toolkit for transactional SMS

Journey step and API

SMS element in the Customer Journey, or a Messaging API v2 Notify call.

Reachability fallback

Sends when push and email cannot.

Presets

Reusable text with a version per locale.

Voucher pools and tracked links

A unique code per recipient; links shortened automatically, clicks counted.

Global reach

187 countries out of the box.

Frequency capping and send rate

Project-wide or per step.

Built for OTP, alerts and status updates

Plain text SMS from a preset or custom content, personalized per recipient with Dynamic Content and tags. A standard message runs to 160 characters, and longer text splits into segments. Promotional SMS goes only to the customers who agreed to receive it.

OTP code

A verification code that lands in seconds.

Out for delivery

A status update tied to the order.

Appointment reminder

A nudge the day before the visit.

Marketing or transactional, chosen per message

Every SMS step carries a type, and that choice decides which rules apply.

Marketing

Respects opt-outs, frequency capping and your silence period, and leaves out the global control group.

Transactional

Skips those limits and reaches the control group too, so a code or a critical alert still goes out.

Make SMS a permanent part of your messaging stack

Add a reachability check to a journey and let SMS fallback cover the users that push and email cannot reach. You can also split the journey on whether the SMS was delivered, with a wait of up to 7 days. A send by UserID reaches the person across their devices.

Reserve SMS for the moments that need it

SMS costs more per message than push or email, so every message you can route elsewhere saves budget. Push handles everyday updates and interactive content at a lower cost. Email carries catalogs, images and long content. SMS handles urgent alerts, security codes and the people other channels miss.

Push

Everyday updates and interactive content at a lower cost.

Email

Catalogs, images and long content.

Urgent alerts, security codes and the people other channels miss.

The most common ways to use SMS

Fintech

Two-factor authentication SMS, fraud and payment alerts.

Parcel and courier

Out-for-delivery notices and delivery PINs.

Airlines and rail

Delays, gate changes and disruption notices.

Healthcare

Appointment reminders and results-ready notices.

Retail

Order status, pickup-ready and locker codes.

Utilities

Outage notices with a restore time.

Good to know: delivery reporting depends on the operator. Some mobile operators do not transmit delivery status, so delivered counts reflect what the operator reports back. You can check the specifics with the operators serving your customers. Send volumes and click data on shortened links stay accurate either way.

Match a number to a profile, then personalize

Phone numbers register in E.164 against a UserID, so an SMS targets the same profile as your push and email.

Personalize every message

Dynamic Content, tags and event attributes as value sources. Presets with a version for each locale. Test send and on-device preview before launch.

Import your existing list

Import by CSV and map your own column names to the right fields. Carry location, birthday, language or customer type as tags. Imported contacts land as a segment you can target right away.

Analytics

See what every SMS did

  • Message History — per-message status and detailed stats across Overview, Clicks, Timeline and Errors, exportable to CSV.
  • Delivery tracking — total sent, delivered and delivered unique, wherever the mobile operator reports delivery status.
  • Link click tracking — total clicked and clicked unique, once link tracking is enabled.

How it works

  1. Talk to our team to switch SMS on

The channel needs a provider set up with our sales team or your CSM, and it sits outside the free plan.

  2. Register phone numbers

Ask your developers to register numbers in E.164 against a UserID, or import your contacts by CSV yourself. Opt-in and number formatting stay on your side.

  3. Send

Send from the Control Panel, add an SMS step to a journey, or call the transactional SMS API — Messaging API v2 Notify.
